Vegetable vendor cooks up cop job story to find match, make mom happy | Pune News

Pune: A few posters tom-toming about getting a police constable’s job, photos in khaki and posting one of these images as the display picture on a cellphone messaging application. A 26-year-old vegetable vendor in Narhe used these tricks to find a match and make his mother happy, prompting a case of impersonation against him.The Narhe police on Monday evening registered the case against the youth after he put up the posters stating that he was selected as a constable in the recently concluded police recruitment drive in the lane where he sold vegetables. Residents of the area felicitated him for his self-proclaimed achievement.“The young man was unable to find a match for himself. He then came up with the idea of claiming that he had lapped up a job of a police constable in the recently concluded drive of Pune city police,” said senior inspector Asaram Shete of Narhe police station.“The young man has cleared the SSC exam. He stays with his mother. She wanted him to be a police constable,” he said.“The youth thought that his pictures in the constable’s uniform would make his mother happy and help him find a suitable match. Thus, he spread the word among his friends that he had been selected as a police constable. He then bought a police uniform and took photographs wearing it. The same photographs were used in the posters,” Shete said.A police constable saw these posters and became suspicious about the vegetable vendor. Following this, the police questioned him. The youth then confessed to have posed as a policeman to fulfil his mother’s wish and find a suitable match.
