Pune: A sessions court in Shirur has sentenced a casual worker Karan Jalindar Bhole (29) to life imprisonment for killing his cousin Subhash B Sonawane (55) on Feb 5, 2021, during a dispute arose from a quarrel between children in Shirur.Additional sessions judge SP Pol found the accused guilty under sections 302 (Murder) and 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon) of the Indian Penal Code. Bhole remained lodged in jail since the incident and he has been granted a setoff for the time he served so far.The prosecution’s case was that Bhole and Sonawane, who were neighbours and also relatives, had strained relations over a financial dispute involving Rs2 lakh which Sonawane had given to Bhole’s father. On the day of the incident, a quarrel broke out between the children from the two families and Sonawane intervened to resolve the matter.However, Sonawane’s intervention led to a verbal exchange between the two families during which Bhole attacked Sonawane with a cable wire and a knife, causing fatal injuries. Karan was arrested for murder by Shirur police and sent to jail.
