Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z gets new 350cc engine! How performance changes

Bajaj Auto has updated the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z with a new 350cc engine, and the change has been announced silently via its official website. While the mechanical update is significant, the asking price remains unchanged for now at Rs 1,93,900, ex-showroom. We expect the pricing to be revised given that a similar update was recently made to the Dominar, which resulted in a significant price drop of around Rs 37,000.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 400Z: What’s changed

The biggest update comes in the form of a new 349cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor. This unit produces 40 hp and 33.2 Nm of torque. Compared to the earlier 373cc engine, this marks a drop of 2.4 hp and 1.8 Nm. Interestingly, this output is similar to what the motorcycle delivered at the time of its initial launch. The new engine is expected to be closely related to the unit seen on the Bajaj Dominar 400 in its latest form. As part of the transition, Bajaj has reduced the engine’s displacement from 373cc to 349cc by shortening the stroke from 60 mm to 56.1 mm, while keeping the bore unchanged at 89 mm.

Apart from the engine, the rest of the motorcycle remains unchanged. The NS400Z continues to use the same frame and rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. Suspension duties are handled by USD front fork and a rear monoshock, while braking is taken care of by a 320 mm front disc and a 230 mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS.This move is in line with Bajaj’s recent strategy of downsizing its larger-capacity motorcycles to the 350 cc bracket. For now, the price of the Pulsar NS400Z remains unchanged on the company’s website, although it remains to be seen if Bajaj will revise it in the coming days.
