Hinjewadi man arrested for posting morphed photos online, demanding Rs 5 lakh | Pune News



Pune: The Ravet police on Sunday arrested an employee of a placement agency in Hinjewadi for allegedly posting morphed photographs of an acquaintance’s fiancée and mother on multiple pornographic websites and attempting to extort Rs 5 lakh to remove the content.The accused has been booked under Section 308 (extortion) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.“Prima facie, the incident appears to have stemmed from a financial dispute between the complainant and the accused. We seized the accused’s cellphone and found the objectionable content on it,” senior inspector Nitin Fatangare of the Ravet police told TOI.Fatangare said the accused and the complainant knew each other and had a dispute over money. Following the disagreement, the accused allegedly morphed photographs of the complainant’s fiancée and mother and uploaded them to various pornographic websites. He also shared the images with the complainant, his fiancée and their friends.“The accused then began calling the complainant and demanded Rs 5 lakh to remove the photographs. After receiving the complaint, we arrested him and issued a notice,” Fatangare added.
