Senior citizens get cyber safety tips

New Delhi: For the elderly in central Delhi, Senior Citizens’ Day was not just a celebration, but a conversation with police about cybersafety and staying one step ahead in the digital world. Over 200 senior citizens celebrated the day with central district police in a programme organised at INOX Satyam, Patel Nagar, on Friday. ‘Swarnim Dharohar Sewa Suraksha Samman’ was conducted in association with the 24×7 care foundation.Sub-inspector Ravinder from the cyber police station sensitised the attendees on cyber safety, including precautions against online frauds . A WhatsApp group was created by central district police for the senior citizens to share their issues with the police.DCP (central) Nidhin Valsan said, “Each senior citizen was welcomed with roses, symbolising respect and gratitude. To ensure their safety and comfort, an ambulance was stationed outside the venue for any medical emergency. Refreshments were also served.”A special screening of the movie “Mahavatar Narsimha” was also arranged for the attendees. Each senior citizen was given a poster containing SHO and police station contact numbers. “The highlight of the event was the participation of a guest who specially travelled from Gujarat to attend the programme,” added DCP Valsan.
