Pune: The state CID has responded to the govt’s order and formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe cases of cheating and misappropriation involving Jalgaon-based Bhaichand Hirachand Raisoni (BHR) multi-state cooperative credit society.Additional director general of police (CID) Sunil Ramanand told TOI: “We received the govt order and formed the SIT to probe cheating and misappropriation cases involving the BHR credit cooperative society.”He said, “Superintendent of police (CID, Nashik) Deepak Gire will head the SIT, which will operate from Nashik. It will probe 78 cases involving the credit society.”Out of the 78 cases filed, investigation agencies have submitted chargesheets in 70 cases. Six cases are closed and two are under investigation. “Our team will look for additional evidence in the said 70 cases. We will study the six closed ones and further probe the two under investigation,” Ramanand said.The cases are registered in Jalgaon, Jalna, Pune, Satara, Solapur, Sangli and other districts. Majority of them are concentrated in Marathwada, Nashik and western Maharashtra registered over the last 15 years.“In Pune, cases are registered with the Khadak, Nigdi, Warje, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Deccan Gymkhana, Hadapsar, Sinhagad Road, Bhigwan, Khed and Narayangaon police stations,” he said.Explaining the nature of the problem, Ramanand said, “In maximum cases, society members took high-value loans and defaulted. The credit cooperative society failed to repay money to fixed deposit holders, other investors or people with regular accounts.”The SIT team will focus on how the credit cooperative members and other people involved neglected the rules and regulations.
