Teen held for fake record of leaked board exam papers

Pune: Shivajinagar police on Thursday arrested an 18-year-old youth from Chandrapur district in connection with a case involving the alleged circulation of maths part-2 or science part-1 board exam papers on social media. The police found that the accused used a specific feature of a mobile messenger app and created a false chronological record to make it appear as though he was in possession of the leaked paper before the exam. The board also clarified that no question paper was leaked before the commencement of the exam.A statement issued by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on Thursday stated that the board received a complaint on March 9 regarding the alleged circulation of the maths part-1 and maths part-2 question papers on social media. Board secretary Deepak Mali said, “Upon verification of the link concerned, it was found that a group named ‘Maharashtra State Board 2026′ displayed a message claiming that the maths part-1 question paper was circulated a day earlier on March 6. However, there is no evidence indicating that the question paper was available a day before the exam.”Shivajinagar’s senior police inspector Ganesh Dighavkar said, “The accused used the file manipulation technique. Once a PDF file is uploaded on the app, it can be replaced at any time. He uploaded the password-protected file a day before the exam and posted messages on the group about the availability of the paper for Rs600.”
