Two held on charge of bid to kill potter, two others | Pune News



Pune: A gang of seven men created a ruckus at Kadachiwadi in Chakan and allegedly attempted to murder a potter with a stone, besides two others trying to rescue the latter. The potter (48) suffered head injuries in the attack. He lodged a complaint with the Chakan police. The police registered a case under sections 109 (murder attempt), 189, 190, 191 and 192 (rioting) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

An officer from the Chakan police said the accused forced the motorcycle-borne potter to stop at Kadachiwadi around 8pm when he was going to his home in Medankarwadi. They abused him, claiming that they were “Bhais” (strongmen), and refused to allow him to pass through the area. “They beat up the victim and tried to bludgeon him with a big stone,” the officer said.He said when two men tried to save the potter, the gang members hurled stones at them, too. The duo also suffered head injuries in the attack. The incident created a panic in the area. Residents locked their houses and shopkeepers pulled down shutters of their establishments. “After getting the information, our team swung into action and took two accused into custody,” he said.
