Navi Mumbai: 2 men arrested for sexually assaulting 3 minor girls in Turbhe and Khandeshwar

Navi Mumbai: Two separate Pocso cases have been registered at Khandeshwar and Turbhe police stations on Sunday wherein two accused men have been arrested for alleged sexual assaulting three minor girls. Khandeshwar police have arrested a 69-year-old watchman Bharat Goud, of a society in Panvel taluka for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl residing in the same society. The girl’s mother registered an FIR against the accused Goud who was booked under relevant sections of BNS for punishment for rape, assaulting or using criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, for the offence of penetrative sexual assault, aggravated penetrative sexual assault and punishment for sexual assault. In a second case, police have arrested a 53-year-old shopkeeper in Turbhe MIDC area for allegedly molesting two girls aged 12 and 13 years. In the FIR at Turbhe, the mother of the 12-year-old girl has stated that on Sunday around 12.50 pm, the accused shopkeeper identified as Jayprakash Gupta forcibly caught his daughter’s hand and took her behind a company near NMMC school where he touched her inappropriately and sexually abused her. After reaching home, the visibly scared girl revealed her ordeal to her mother, who confronted the accused Gupta. As locals gathered at the spot, it was learnt that Gupta had committed similar offence with a 13-year-old daughter of another woman, who is a neighbour of the complainant.
