New Delhi: Two men linked to the Gogi Gang were shot in the legs during a police encounter in Rohini Sector-24 on Saturday. A third suspect was arrested at the scene. Police had received information that a member of the gang was planning to open fire at the residence of a gau rakshak dal member. The target was reportedly organising a mahasabha against one of the accused, Lallu (23), for assaulting three persons weeks earlier and circulating a video of the incident on social media. Deputy commissioner of police (Rohini), Rajeev Ranjan, said the input further revealed that Lallu and his associates planned to travel through Sector-24 in a car before attacking the target’s house in Sector-1. “Police intercepted the vehicle at 2.40 am and signaled it to stop. The driver rammed into the patrol vehicle, got out and opened fire,” he said. During a brief exchange of gunfire, the accused fired six to seven rounds. Police responded with six shots. Lallu and Irfan (21) sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital. Nitesh (30) was arrested at the scene, while two others escaped. A case has been registered .
