New Delhi: A businessman from the city was allegedly murdered in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat by a tantrik who owed the victim Rs 40 lakh. Police have arrested the accused.Rahul Goyal, a businessman from Burari in north Delhi, ran a dairy business and also lent money on interest. He was survived by his wife, daughter and father.Police received a call from Goyal’s wife on Thursday that her husband had gone to meet an acquaintance, Indrapal alias Bhagatji, in Uttar Pradesh’s Doula village but hadn’t returned. Delhi Police sent her to UP Police. Goyal’s wife told UP Police on Saturday evening that she suspected Indrapal of being responsible for her husband’s disappearance. Police tracked and arrested Indrapal.He confessed to Goyal’s murder and told police that he, along with his associates, had buried the body after digging a pit in a dry pond in a forest near Goshpur village. Police recovered the body, which bore bullet wounds.The deceased’s wife revealed that Indrapal owed her husband around Rs 40 lakh with interest. Indrapal had repaid only a small portion of the debt. When Goyal demanded the money, Indrapal allegedly lured him to Doula village and murdered him.A murder case has been registered at Singhawali Ahir police station in Baghpat. Police are trying to trace and arrest his accomplices. TNN
