An Indian Santa Claus is in town. Zebu Films, in association with Zebu Animation Studios, released the music video, ‘Santhu Baba’, the other day, which celebrates a home-grown Santa, who is out to spread the joy of caring and giving. Adding to the overall vibe of the holiday track is the presence of children, who are having a jolly good time with the Santa.
The work is a Christmas special set in Zebu’s The Wonderful Adventures of Suppandi universe, states a press release issued by the company. Mike, one of the characters in the series, is featured in the video, as he is given an alter-ego, Santhu Baba. Carrying the message of friendship and generosity, the video stresses on one aspect – The real magic is in what we do for each other, instead of waiting for someone else to deliver joy.

The protagonist in the video brings happiness and friendship to a group of children and reminds us that community is the celebration. Initiated and led by filmmaker and animator Suvi Vijay, it has music by Samuel Aby, who has sung the track with Sithara Krishnakumar. Even as it showcases Christmas vibe and motifs of the season, the festive song is very much Indian with regard to the composition, arrangement and rendition.
