Woman & son killed in accident near Bhor, car driver held | Pune News



Pune: A 55-year-old woman and her son (27) were killed on Wednesday afternoon after a car hit them near Bhor, about 50km away from the city.The police identified the deceased as Nanda Dhavale and her son, Amrut, both from Telwadi village in Bhor. The Pune Rural police on Thursday evening arrested a car driver (37) from Kharadi on the charge of causing the death of the woman and her son due to negligence.

An officer from the Rajgad police said the woman and her son had reached their farm on a motorcycle around 1pm on Wednesday. Amrut, the son, parked the motorcycle along the road. When he and his mother were standing near the two-wheeler, the car hit them.“The car driver fled after the accident. Residents of the area took the woman and her son to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead,” the officer said.He said the police traced the driver to Kharadi in Pune on Thursday and arrested him. “Our investigations are on,” he said.Pickup truck tips over, 28 injuredAt least 28 people suffered injuries after a pickup truck they were travelling in turned on its side on Markal Road near Alandi on Thursday morning.The accident occurred when the victims were on their way to Perne Phata to pay tributes at the “Vijay Stambh” (victory tower) in Koregaon Bhima on Pune-Nagar highway. The injured people were from Kuruli village in Khed taluka.At least 35 people were travelling in the pickup truck when the accident occurred. The injured people were treated at different hospitals in Alandi and Pimpri Chinchwad, the police said.
