Pune: A woman (50) died and 13 others suffered injuries after their vehicle, a multi-utility vehicle (MUV), crashed into another in Loni Deokar village near Indapur, about 125km from the city, on the Pune-Solapur highway around 3.45am on Thursday.The Indapur police identified the deceased as Yallava Chaundaki (50) of Bijapur in Karnataka. The 13 injured people were admitted to private hospitals in Indapur and Bhigwan.An officer from the Indapur police said about 14 people from Bijapur had come to Pune on Wednesday for a funeral of their relative. “After attending the funeral, they left for Bijapur late in the night,” the officer said.He said when they reached Loni Deokar around 3.45am on Thursday, the driver lost control and crashed into the rear of an unidentified vehicle.“The victims were stuck inside the MUV. Local residents rescued the injured people and shifted them to different hospitals. Chaundaki later declared dead by doctors,” he said.The officer said the police registered a case of causing death by negligence against the driver of the MUV.
