Pune: A 31-year-old woman died, while her relative escaped with minor injuries after a trailer truck hit their scooter at Thermax Chowk in Nigdi on Tuesday evening.The Nigdi police identified the deceased as Asha Lokhande of Nigdi. Her relative, Sushila Ghodke (45), suffered minor injuries in the accident. The Nigdi police registered a case of causing death due to negligence against the trailer truck driver after Ghodke lodged a complaint.An officer from the Nigdi police said Lokhande and Ghodke were going towards Nigdi on the scooter. Ghodke was driving it. None of them was wearing a helmet.“The trailer truck was heading in the same direction. The truck brushed against the scooter while overtaking it,” the officer said.He said Ghodke lost balance and fell on the left side of the road. Lokhande fell on the opposite side and came under the wheels of the trailer truck. She died on the spot, he said.The officer said the trailer truck driver left the vehicle at the spot. “We later traced him and registered a case against him,” he said.
