NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi‘s cousin Asif Qureshi was killed following a dispute over scooter parking in Delhi’s Bhogal area on the night of August 7. According to officials, the incident took place around 11.00 pm, when the victim, Asif Qureshi, asked the accused to move their scooty that was blocking the gate to his home. The argument escalated, and one of the accused allegedly stabbed Asif in the chest with a sharp-pointed object (poker), leading to his death.Who was Asif Qureshi?42-year-old Asif Qureshi ran a poultry business and led a modest, hardworking life. Despite living a low-profile life, Asif’s connection to Bollywood were through his famous cousin, Huma Qureshi, known for her powerful roles in films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Badlapur, and Jolly LLB 2. His uncle, Saleem Qureshi, Huma’s father said Asif had no enmity with anyone and was killed over a petty issue. “Asif had only asked the boy to move the scooter a little further so that the gate wouldn’t be blocked. But they turned it into a matter of ego and killed him,” Saleem said. “It is a murder over a small issue. It shows how fragile tempers have become in our society.”Family alleges planned attack Asif’s wife, Shaheen, who witnessed the incident, said to news agency PTI: “Ujjwal suddenly attacked him in the chest. He fell down instantly, covered in blood. I tried to save him, but I was pushed away. Then some more people, who live with them, also attacked and abused him.” She claimed that the same group had assaulted her husband earlier in November 2024. “They were jealous of him. If it were just about the scooter, they could have moved it. This was not a sudden fight. They did it on purpose.”She said her husband worked as a chicken supplier and rarely interacted with those involved in the killing or their family.“We never talked to them. We used to sit in our own group in the neighbourhood. They had treated him as an enemy without any reason,” she alleged. After the attack, she immediately called her brother-in-law and rushed Asif to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.An FIR (No. 233/25) was registered under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Hazrat Nizamuddin Police Station the following day. The accused — identified as Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18), both residents of the same area — were arrested.
