What’s on the menu: Here’s waht govt will serve at events

New Delhi: Golden fried chicken, mutton rogan josh, boti kabab, paneer tikka, dal makhani, gulab jamun and seasonal fruits are among the over 200 items included in an extensive menu prepared by Delhi govt for its official events. The menu was prepared as part of plans by Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC), the govt agency which organises outdoor catering for govt offices, including the LG and CM secretariats, according to a document seen by TOI.

The options for food items include 33 salads and chaats, 28 soups and shorbas, 30 snacks — vegetarian and non-vegetarian — 25 vegetarian dishes, 21 non-vegetarian dishes, 14 types of dals, 24 varieties of Indian breads, and nine types of raitas. The dessert selection has 18 items showcasing the scale and diversity of the catering arrangements for official events. The DTTDC said it has floated a tender for the purpose. “It is not that all these items will be available at all govt functions. The departments of the govt holding the event will be free to choose items from the options,” an official said. “Serving food and refreshments at govt functions is a routine practice. The catering services operate on a call basis and are available throughout the year in line with the requirements of govt functions. It is required to ensure that hospitality services at govt events are conducted in an organised manner,” the official said. DTTDC will provide vendors with essential support at event venues, including space. In addition to food preparation, vendors are required to provide good-quality napkins, toothpicks and bone china crockery. Light tea is priced between Rs 80 and Rs 115 per person. Vegetarian high tea buffets will cost between Rs 330 and Rs 575 per person, while non-vegetarian will be priced from Rs 385-645.
