Netflix has released the first trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, giving audiences a look at Daniel Craig’s latest turn as detective Benoit Blanc. The third film in Rian Johnson’s franchise will debut in select theaters on November 26 before arriving on the streamer on December 12.

The trailer introduces Blanc as he investigates what is described as his “most dangerous case yet.” The mystery begins with the death of a priest under seemingly impossible circumstances. “A man gives a sermon. He then, in plain sight of everyone, walks into a sealed concrete box. Thirty seconds later, that man is lying dead. A classic, impossible crime,” Craig’s Blanc says in the footage.

Joining Craig is a star-studded cast that includes Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church. The story centers on young priest Jud Duplenticy (O’Connor), who is sent to assist Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Brolin) at a small-town parish. When tragedy strikes, the modest congregation — featuring characters played by Close, Church, Washington, Renner, Scott, Spaeny and McCormack — falls under suspicion. Kunis appears as the town’s police chief, working alongside Blanc to unravel the crime.

Johnson wrote and directed Wake Up Dead Man, which he also produced with Ram Bergman. The film follows the success of Knives Out (2019) and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022), the latter part of Netflix’s multibillion-dollar deal to continue the franchise.
