Delhi was aglow with the spirit of the season at the 26th German Christmas Market, where the PSOI lawns became a vibrant festive paradise

With the aroma of waffles and pretzels in the air, the 26th German Christmas Market ushered in a weekend of yuletide cheer as the PSOI lawns transformed into a festive Christmas hub. Delhiites thronged the venue, dressed in their festive best. With Jingle Bell Rock in your ears, candy canes and Santa faces all around, is there anything more comforting?

Shoppers browsed everything from linens and stockings to festive wreaths, Christmas décor, and trees.

From Christmas-themed scented candles and knitted charms to cutesy Polar Express engines, the market offered a delightful array of festive décor.

Christmas markets in Germany are popular for shopping and traditional food. The idea was to recreate that experience here

A classic pecan pie, dark and milk chocolate with nuts in the shape of an Xmas tree, and warm German waffles with maple syrup were the crowd favourites (clockwise).

It feels almost like home with authentic German food, though the weather is very different. The atmosphere is lovely, and while there’s plenty of shopping, I’m especially drawn to Indian handicrafts and carpets
