New Delhi: Directorate of Education (DoE) will conduct the Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha on Nov 16 to support meritorious Class IX students across the city. The annual exam aims to test students’ conceptual understanding, analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to build interest in research-oriented careers.The top 1,000 rank holders will receive a one-time scholarship of ₹5,000 each, along with merit certificates. The exam is open to Class IX students enrolled in government, government-aided, unaided recognised private schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and schools run by NDMC and DCB. Students need to secure a minimum of 60% marks in Class VIII for the General and OBC categories, while the eligibility bar is set at 55% for students belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/PH) in the academic session 2024–25.At least 15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste students, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe students and 27% for Other Backwards Classes (non-creamy layer), as per GNCTD’s Revenue Department norms. Further, 10% of seats are reserved for students from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and 4% are earmarked for children with benchmark disabilities. This includes 1% each for students with blindness, deafness, locomotor disabilities including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy, autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness.
