Pune: Faraskhana police registered a case of sexual assault on a woman against two members of a dhol-tasha troupe late on Sunday night. The woman, a 20-year-old reporter, was covering the Ganapati immersion ceremony on Saturday evening when the incident took place. According to an officer of the Faraskhana police, “The young woman and her colleague, both trainee reporters for an online news portal, were covering the immersion ceremony. At this time, a dhol-tasha troupe arrived at Belbaug Chowk. Two members of the troupe were pushing an iron cart carrying a dhol. The cart’s wheel went over the reporter’s leg, and she screamed and protested against the duo.” The officer added, “Following the argument, the duo allegedly pushed and touched the woman inappropriately. When her colleague intervened, the duo also pushed him. We have identified one of the two members of the troupe. Further investigations are ongoing.”
