Truck hits dhol-tasha troupes’ members, 1 dead | Pune News



Pune: A rally organised to celebrate the birthday of former Pune Zilla Parishad president Devram Lande turned tragic on Wednesday when a mini-truck carrying a loudspeaker hit members of a dhol-tasha troupe around 2.15pm on Wednesday at the onion market in Junnar, leaving one person killed and six injured.The Pune Rural police identified the deceased as Aditya Kale (21) of Khamgaon in Junnar taluka, about 96km from the city. A case was registered against Lande and three others under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.“We have detained Lande and one Namdev Rokade,” inspector Kiran Avchar of the Junnar police said. The rally was organised on the occasion of Lande’s birthday allegedly without prior permission.There were two dhol-tasha troupes and a loudspeaker vehicle in the rally. While the rally was on the market premises, the driver of the mini-truck lost control and hit the members of the troupes. The vehicle stopped after crashing into the security guard’s cabin. “The injured were immediately taken to a hospital, where Kale was pronounced dead by doctors,” the officer said.
