Pune: The Wakad police on Tuesday arrested two men on the charge of assaulting four people at a fuel station in Tathawade—comprising the owner, his cousin and two employees—when the latter did not allow them to smoke on the petrol station premises on Monday night. The Wakad police police arrested Saurabh Khandalkar (25) and Vihan Jagtap (22), both of Wakad, under sections 109 (murder attempt), 118 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.Assistant inspector Subhash Chavan of the Wakad police said, “Around 11pm on Monday, three people arrived on a motorcycle to refill the tank. Khandalkar, who is a truck driver, was refilling the tank. Two others, who work at a sewage treatment plant, started smoking there. One of the employees objected to it and did not allow them to smoke near the petrol pump.”Chavan said, furious by this, Khandalkar dashed that employee with his motorcycle. He fell down and sustained bruises to his limbs. The petrol pump owner noticed the incident. The owner, his cousin and one other employee rushed there. They nabbed Khandalkar and two others. “The trio then assaulted them with the sharp knives. The owner sustained a stab injury near his chest, while his cousin sustained injuries near his stomach and head after he was pushed by one of the accused. Their employee also sustained injuries near his waist and hand,” Chavan said. The officer said before driving away from the spot, the trio thrashed the victims with hands and legs. “Prima facie, the arrested men do not have any criminal record. Our investigations are on and the police are searching for third accused,” the officer said.
