Thane records AQI of 217: 3rd highest reading this year

Thane: The city recorded a hazardous Air Quality Index (AQI) of 217 on Thursday, marking the third-highest reading this year after nearly 10 months, govt records revealed. AQI readings above 200 are classified as “poor” and pose serious health risks, warn experts and attribute the sudden deterioration to ongoing infrastructure upgrades, real estate projects, emissions during heavy traffic, reduced green cover, and waste burning.
