Thane: Residents across Kalyan-Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Titwala and Dombivli MIDC areas will have to brace for a 24-hour water cut starting 12 PM on Thursday, September 18, due to essential maintenance and repair works undertaken by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).According to an official release, MIDC will carry out crucial maintenance work at the Jambhul water purification centre and the Barvi pumping station. To facilitate this, water supply will be completely shut down from 12 PM on Thursday, September 18, till 12 PM on Friday, September 19. The shutdown will last for 24 hours. The water cut will affect industrial zones including Dombivli MIDC and Taloja MIDC, as well as municipal areas under the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC), and several surrounding gram panchayats. Officials have cautioned that even after the supply resumes on Saturday, September 20, water pressure is likely to remain low for some time until the system stabilizes.Authorities have appealed to citizens, local institutions, industries and housing societies to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously during the shutdown period. The shutdown is part of MIDC’s scheduled preventive maintenance drive to ensure smoother and uninterrupted supply in the long run.
