New Delhi: Delhi Police‘s crime branch has arrested a member of the Thak-Thak gang from Anna Colony, ITO. The gang, known for targeting vehicles by knocking on windows to distract drivers before stealing valuables, has been linked to multiple car thefts. According to police, Krishna (27), alias Gopal, one of the gang members wanted in two car theft cases, was on the run. The cases came to light when on Aug 30, two car break-ins were reported in Gorakhpur, UP. In one incident, a gram panchayat officer’s car was broken into, and a bag containing a laptop, official documents, cards and keys was stolen. On the same day, another complainant reported that the rear window of his car was smashed, with two laptops and cash stolen.Based on CCTV footage, Gorakhpur Police arrested two gang members, Ujendra Pandey (37) and Sanju (37), but Krishna and two other associates had fled.“They were evading arrest by frequently changing locations. On Sept 10, Delhi Police received a tip-off that Krishna would visit Anna Colony in ITO. A team laid a trap and apprehended him,” said DCP (crime) Harsh Indora, adding, “The accused disclosed that he belonged to an organised gang operating from hideouts in Madangir and ITO.”
