MUBI has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, the third feature from filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun. The film is set for a theatrical release on August 7 across multiple international territories.

Written and directed by Schoenbrun, the film is a meta take on classic slasher franchises and their long histories of sequels and reboots. It follows a young filmmaker assigned to revive the fictional Camp Miasma horror series after years of declining popularity. Her work brings her into contact with the original star of the franchise, now a reclusive actress, and the relationship between the two becomes increasingly intense and dangerous. Hannah Einbinder stars as the filmmaker, with Gillian Anderson playing the former slasher icon.
The supporting cast includes Amanda Fix, Arthur Conti, Eva Victor, Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Patrick Fischler, Dylan Baker, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Quintessa Swindell, Kevin McDonald, and Jack Haven.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma marks Schoenbrun’s follow-up to We’re All Going to the World’s Fair and I Saw the TV Glow, both of which established the filmmaker’s reputation for combining psychological horror with coming-of-age themes.
The film is financed by MUBI and produced by Plan B Entertainment. MUBI will handle the theatrical rollout in North America, India, the U.K., Europe, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and additional international markets.
