“There was no head-on collision between the truck and the scooter. The road condition is poor, and we suspect that while driving in the wrong direction, her scooter skidded and she fell in front of the rear wheel of the truck,” he said. “Her legs were found beneath the tyres. Some passersby picked her up and moved her to the hospital, where she was declared dead. She died due to excessive bleeding,” Ghadge added.Local residents said traffic police had implemented traffic diversions on Monday to facilitate VIP movements in the area. The new traffic rules have adversely affected their transit towards Katraj as well as towards Phursungi. A resident said, “We have to take long detours to reach our destinations.”Additional commissioner of police Manoj Patil said, “The deceased drove her scooter in the wrong direction, which resulted in the accident. We are adopting good measures on the road, which is repeatedly witnessing fatal accidents.”
