New Delhi: A 22-year-old tuition teacher from Old Delhi was arrested for allegedly creating fake social media accounts and posting morphed and objectionable images of a former colleague.Recently, a 25-year-old female teacher in a govt-aided school approached the cops and alleged that fake social media accounts were created in her name. She stated that morphed pictures and follow requests were being sent to her students and colleagues to defame her.A case was registered at the cyber police station of north Delhi. “A team obtained technical details, including IP logs, registered emails and mobile number, from the social media application. The suspect was identified as a former contractual teacher of the same school, who had left her job in 2022,” said DCP (North) Raja Banthia.“The suspect attempted to mislead the investigation by claiming that she too was a victim of fake accounts. However, when confronted with the digital evidence, she confessed to her role,” the officer added.The tuition teacher said that she used to work at the school earlier and was very close to its principal. After leaving the school, she tried to get her attention through various means. She created fake videos portraying herself as a cancer patient and even faked her death. When she came to know that one of her former colleagues became close to the principal, she started maligning her.Three handwritten slips bearing unusual symbols and numeric patterns have been found. Police are probing if the tuition teacher indulged in occult practices.
