State Congress to undergo organisational changes | Pune News



Pune: Congress will make major organisational changes across the state to strengthen the party over the next one year, besides organising protests over growing unemployment, deteriorating law and order situation and farmers’ issues. Members of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee are participating in a two-day review meeting in Mumbai from Tuesday. The performance of the party in every municipal corporation, Zilla Parishad and municipal council was reviewed in the meeting. Subsequently, the MPCC members decided to make some new appointments at local levels to strengthen the party and prepare Congress to go solo in the 2029 elections.State Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal said, “The district chiefs of the party participated in the review meeting, along with the MPCC members. The strengths and weaknesses of the party at every civic body were discussed. Following the review, we took a decision to make some organisational changes right from the tehsil-level.” Sapkal said, “The party will make new appointments at district, tehsil and even at panchayat levels in rural parts of the state. In urban areas, a new chief in every ward and panel will be appointed to increase the base of the party,” Sapkal said. The state Congress chief also said the party’s focus for the next one year would be challenging the govt over issues related to farmers, youths, and law and order. “While strengthening the party at the grassroots level, we cannot ignore the burning issues of the state. We have decided to conduct various agitations over farmers’ issues, growing unemployment and deteriorating law and order in the state. We are sure that common people will support us in these agitations,” Sapkal added.
