Pune: The Airport police detained a snack stall operator (30) and his brother (27) for pushing and threatening a police personnel around 1am on Friday at Kharadi bypass.Senior inspector Seema Dhakane of Chandannagar police filed a complaint against the duo with the Airport police station. Dhakane and her team were on the night patrolling. After spotting an anda bhurji stall operational around midnight, Dhakane ordered the local beat marshals to shut it down. When the beat marshals ordered the operator to shut down the stall for the day, the stall operator promised that he would close the stall within a few minutes.Around 1am, Dhakane and her team visited the spot again and found the stall was still operational. Dhakane ordered the stall operator to close the stall, but instead of closing, he threatened the police personnel. He grabbed the shirts of police personnel and pushed them back. When police personnel confronted him, he issued threats of dire consequences to them.Dhakane called the control room for reinforcement. The team then detained the duo and took them to the Airport police station for further action. Police invoked charges of assault and using criminal force against a public servant to prevent them from performing duty and criminal intimidation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
