New Delhi: Delhi Metro service was impacted between Vishwavidyalaya and Central Secretariat metro stations for over four hours on Friday. It caused severe inconvenience to passengers. The service was impacted due to a signalling issue.“Train services on a section of the Yellow Line were regulated on Friday due to a signalling issue between the New Delhi and Patel Chowk stations from 7:25 am till about 12 noon. As a result, trains were operated at a restricted speed of 25 kmph on the stretch between Kashmere Gate and Patel Chowk, even as normal train services continued on the rest of the Yellow Line, though some bunching of trains was noticed on the entire Yellow Line,” said Anuj Dayal, principal executive director, corporate communications, DMRC.During this period, passengers were regularly informed through announcements at stations and inside trains, Dayal stated. However, many commuters took to social media to complain about the delay. Since it was peak hours and many commuters preferred Delhi Metro over personal vehicles due to rain, the delay caused inconvenience to commuters.A commuter, Satyam Mishra, wrote on X, “What’s wrong with Yellow Line Metro today? Almost 10 min gap between trains, running at snail’s speed, and no seats since the start. Have to go till Gurgaon like this.”Another commuter said on social media, “All of the Yellow Line is running very slow and stopping for 5-10 mins at stations. It took 2.5 hours for the metro alone to get to Guru Dronacharya from Samaypur Badli.”
