Senior inspector Shashikant Chavan of the Khadak police said Kamble’s sister, Mrunal Kamble, a BJP candidate, had secured the party ticket, contested the recently concluded civic elections, and won. “Another party member from the same area had failed to obtain the ticket to contest the polls,” he said.“After the election results, Kamble began putting up posters of his sister displaying her photographs and the party symbol in the area. However, the six men objected and told him to remove the posters,” Chavan said.“When Kamble continued to put up the posters, the suspects allegedly assaulted him and his friends, kicking and punching them,” the officer added.According to police, the suspects also threatened Kamble with serious consequences if he returned to the area with his sister’s posters.The police have served notices to the suspects, directing them tocooperate with the investigations.
