NEW DELHI: A man was allegedly assaulted by a group of individuals for reportedly selling cow meat at his grocery shop in northwest Delhi’s Vijay Nagar area, police said on Thursday. Authorities have collected meat samples from the shop and sent them for forensic analysis.The case involves a 15-year-old complainant from Vijay Nagar who stated he purchased meat at Rs 400 per kilogram from Chaman Kumar’s shop. Kumar, 44, resides in Kaushik Enclave, Burari. The youth later developed suspicions about it being cow meat.Upon circulation of this information, various organisation members congregated outside Kumar’s establishment and physically assaulted him. He is currently receiving medical evaluation, as confirmed by authorities.Following a PCR alert, officers were immediately dispatched. The authorities are gathering and examining CCTV recordings from nearby areas to reconstruct the incident sequence.“Meat samples have been seized from the shop and sent for forensic examination to determine whether it is cow meat,” a senior police officer said.“We are investigating the matter from all angles. The forensic report is awaited. Police will take action based on its findings,” said the officer.Law enforcement officials confirmed that the Vijay Nagar situation remains stable, with additional forces positioned in the vicinity to prevent any disturbances.
