Satara man detained for duping two with fake job offers | Pune News



Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Monday detained a 45-year-old man from Satara district on the charge of duping two relatives of Rs 15 lakh after promising them employment at Kolkata Metro and in a public sector bank.“The accused took money from them and gave them fake joining letters,” sub-inspector Rahul Dudhmal of the Alandi police told TOI.The elder sister of one of the two victims lodged a complaint with the Alandi police.Dudhmal said the complainant came into contact with the accused through her friend, who runs a car washing centre. The accused, who came there to wash his car, told the owner that he had good contacts and could help him secure jobs.“Following this, the washing centre owner suggested the complainant’s name. The latter got a job in a bank on a contract basis,” Dudhmal said.The accused then told the complainant that he would help her brother get a job as a ticket examiner in Kolkata Metro and demanded Rs 10.5 lakh for securing the job. “The woman took money from her father and gave it to the accused,” the officer said.The accused also took Rs 5 lakh from the complainant’s relative on the pretext of securing a job as an office help in a public sector bank. “The accused even gave them joining letters,” he said.Dudhmal said the woman’s brother went to Kolkata and found that the joining letter was fake. The other relative, who was promised a bank job, experienced a similar situation. Following this, the woman started pursuing the man to return the money. “For the last two years, the accused has been citing different reasons and delaying the money. The woman finally lodged a police complaint,” Dudhmal said.The police have detained the man in Satara. “We will be arresting him,” he said.
