Pune: Chikhali police on Wednesday, registered two separate complaints against two Ganesh Mandal workers for creating a ruckus during the Ganesh immersion procession on Tuesday, at Rupinagar in Talawade. A worker from one of the two Ganesh mandals sustained injuries, and the workers also damaged the windscreen of the generator van of the mandal.An officer from the Chikhali police told TOI that most of the Ganesh Mandals from Rupinagar in Talawade immersed their Ganesh idols on the seventh day by procession. “On Tuesday night, workers of the two Ganesh mandals in Rupinagar had heated arguments over going ahead of each other in the procession,” the officer said.He said that a 44-year-old member of a Ganesh mandal stated in his complaint that the members of the other mandal abused them when they tried to go ahead of their mandal. “The members beat the complainant with hands and legs when he tried to intervene,” he said.The officer said that the President of another Ganesh Mandal lodged a cross complaint by alleging that the members of that mandal damaged the windscreen of the generator van and even abused the members of his mandal. “We have registered a case of rioting and voluntarily causing hurt against the members of both the Ganesh Mandals. Our investigations are on,” the officer said.
