Hundreds, including actors, friends, politicians and members of the public, thronged the residence of actor, screenwriter, and filmmaker Sreenivasan in Kandanad, Kochi, to pay their last respects. People kept arriving in large numbers to the actor’s residence to pay their respects as they mourned the actor’s passing. His mortal remains were kept at his residence at the behest of the family, to allow relatives and well-wishers to come and bid him a final farewell.
Early in the morning actor Surya had arrived to pay his last respects to Sreenivasan. “I have been a big fan of Sreenivasan sir and have closely followed his work. I heard the news while I was in Kochi, and it was deeply saddening. I wanted to come and see him. His writings and body of work will remain etched in everyone’s hearts. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.
People from the film fraternity who arrived included Parvathy Thiruvothu, Renji Panicker, Sathyan Anthikkad, Jagadish, Prithviraj Sukumaran, among others.
Sreenivasan, had passed away on December 20, sending waves of grief across the film industry, following which almost the entire Malayalam movie fraternity arrived to visit him and pay their respects. His mortal remains was kept at Town Hall for public homage on Saturday. Sreenivasan is survived by his wife Vimala and sons Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan. — THB
