New Delhi: On Monday, Kartavya Path transformed into a kaleidoscope of colour, rhythm and heritage, with performers from across the country bringing centuries-old traditions to life.From folk dances and tribal rituals to classical performances, the celebrations highlighted India’s rich cultural diversity, allowing both participants and spectators to experience its living traditions on a grand stage.Performers brought alive the rich cultural tapestry of their states. The Dalkhai dance folk goddess Dalkhai Devi was performed by Odisha’s dancers while the Wangala dance was performed by 26 artists from Meghalaya’s Garo tribe. “We dance to thank the god who gives us food,” said Rangku M Sangma, a participant.This year, about 2,500 cultural artists performed under the theme ‘Vande Mataram – The Eternal Resonance of Bharat’. The performances highlighted India’s regional diversity and cultural continuity, leaving audiences mesmerised.For many, performing on the national stage was the culmination of months of preparation. Narender Pal Singh, a 35-year-old band member from Jammu, arrived in Delhi over two months ago and rehearsed up to 14 hours a day. “This is my fifth time performing, and we are eagerly waiting for our hard work to pay off,” he said.Bembem, 28, from Manipur, performed Raas Leela with 102 fellow dancers for the third time. “It is a proud moment to showcase the culture of Manipur on such a big stage,” she said.
