Their deportation followed a court order earlier this month. The rest were three people from African countries and 20 from other nations. In 2024, one Bangladeshi national was deported along with 25 individuals from African countries and 31 from other nations. In 2023, 18 illegal migrants were deported from Pune.Joint commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma told TOI: “The enforcement against illegal immigration will continue to be a priority, with a greater push for intelligence-based action and inter-agency coordination. Whenever we find an illegal immigrant, we verify their documents and share the data of those under suspicion with intelligence agencies. So far, the illegal immigrants in Pune have usually come in search of work. A few were found involved in flesh trade as well.”The special branch conducted passport verification drives regularly in 2025 and coordinated with central agencies to track foreign nationals staying in the city without valid documents. Officials said checks were carried out at labour pockets, construction sites and residential areas — with a focus to curb illegal stay and use of forged or expired papers. The report said deportations were executed after verification of nationality, visa status and period of stay.
