Pune: An air India Express flight (IX-2717) from Bhubaneswar to Pune aborted landing on Sunday around 3.30pm allegedly due to low visibility. The flight with around 100 flyers took off from Bhubaneswar at around 1.40pm and reached Pune by 3.30pm.Biswajeet Biswal, a Sinhagad Road resident, who visited the Pune airport to drop his daughter off said he was constantly checking the flight’s status and other aspects on Flightradar24. “The same aircraft, after landing in Pune, was to fly to Bhubaneswar as flight IX-1098. After dropping off my daughter, I was heading home, but kept checking the status of the incoming flight. I saw that the flight approached the runway area but didn’t land and took-off again,” he told TOI.A top source in the airline said, “The aircraft did a go-around due to rains and bad weather conditions in Pune which led to low visibility.” Sources said two other flights operating at the same time also faced issues due to the same.TOI sent a detailed message seeking comments on the incident from the spokesperson of the airline. However, the comment was awaited until going to the press. This reporter sent a WhatsApp message to Pune airport director Santosh Dhoke, but a comment from him was also awaited. However, sources in the airport told TOI that the landing had been aborted due to low visibility factor. The flight, according to sources kept circling around the airport area for around half an hour before finally landing at around 4.10pm. Due to this, the Pune-Bhubaneswar flight IX-1098, which was scheduled to take off at 4.35pm, finally took off from Pune at around 5.15pm and landed in Bhubaneswar at around 7pm.In June, the same flight had to abort landing in Pune at the last minute after the pilot had suddenly spotted a dog on the runway. This flight also suffered a bird hit while taxiing at Pune airport.
