Pune: Renowned Pune-based Ayurvedacharya Dr Harish Patankar has been conferred with the prestigious International Ayurveda Ratna Award at the Second World Ayurveda Health Summit, held recently at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru. The award was presented to him by noted actor and theatre director Prakash Belawadi.The summit was hosted by Prashanti Ayurved Center, and supported by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and Department of Ayush, Government of Karnatka to promote Ayurveda on a global platform and strengthen dialogue between traditional Ayurvedic wisdom and contemporary healthcare systems.More than 8,000 registered delegates, including Ayurvedic physicians, researchers, academicians, students, policymakers, and industry professionals from across India and several countries, participated in the event, making it one of the largest international gatherings dedicated to Ayurveda.The programme featured scientific sessions, panel discussions, keynote lectures, research presentations, and interactive forums, focusing on evidence-based Ayurveda, integrative medicine, preventive healthcare, and the global relevance of India’s traditional knowledge systems.Dr Patankar was honoured in recognition of his decades-long contributions to Ayurvedic clinical practice, research, and education, as well as his sustained efforts to promote authentic Ayurveda at national and international levels. During the summit, he also delivered a lecture highlighting the practical application of classical Ayurvedic principles in modern clinical practice.Expressing gratitude after receiving the honour, Dr Patankar dedicated the award to his teachers and mentors, including his guru, Dr Sameer Jamadagni, Dr Gopakumar, and his Sadguru, Shri Anandnath Maharaj. He also dedicated the recognition to his students, patients, parents, family members, friends, well-wishers, and followers, acknowledging their constant support throughout his professional journey.
