Pune: The Market Yard police on Friday arrested a 33-year-old office boy of a private coaching institute on Satara Road for allegedly taking objectionable photographs of and inappropriately touching a Std VIII student in the building’s basement.The student, a boy, informed his parents about the incident on Thursday, following which his father lodged a complaint at the Market Yard police station. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested the accused under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.According to police, the student had been attending classes at the coaching institute for the past three years.“In Jan this year, the accused began approaching the boy and interacting with him frequently to gain his trust. After winning the student’s confidence, he allegedly took the boy to the basement of the building where the classes are conducted,” an officer from Market Yard police said.“In the basement, the accused allegedly took objectionable photographs of the minor and touched him inappropriately,” the officer added.
