New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated a cancer care centre at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Thursday, where she also spent time with patients.Healthcare professionals explained that this comprehensive facility would serve as a centralised location for cancer services, incorporating medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation therapy and day-care chemotherapy under one roof. The centre features advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment, implementing a team-based approach to deliver personalised, precise and compassionate care to cancer patients, they added.“President Droupadi Murmu visited the ailing former chief minister of Jharkhand, Shibu Soren, at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. She met Soren’s son and chief minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, and inquired about Shibu Soren’s health,” her office stated on X, accompanied by a photograph of the meeting. Shibu Soren (81) has been in the hospital for the past five days for a kidney ailment, said officials.The hospital authorities said the President’s visit acknowledged their commitment to providing ethical, affordable and quality healthcare spanning over 70 years. During the inauguration, Dr DS Rana, chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Trust Society, said, “We aim to expand beyond the boundaries of Delhi to reach more communities in need. A significant part of this vision includes the establishment and expansion of our Cancer Care Centre, which symbolises our commitment to excellence and compassionate care. It’s our dream to open SGRH Medical College for a greater role in healthcare.“Dr Ajay Swaroop, chairman of the board of management, said the centre had the most advanced diagnostic, therapeutic and after-care services for all types of cancer cases.
