Police take action against violation of orders during immersion in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad | Pune News



Pune: City police have said cases will be registered against Ganesh mandals and Eid tableaux for flouting restrictions, while Pimpri Chinchwad police said action had been initiated against 40 mandals for using laser beams.Joint police commissioner of Pune city Rajan Kumar Sharma told TOI: “The Eid-e-Milad procession started just a few hours after the Ganapati visarjan concluded. The Eid tableaux also had music systems. We have recorded decibel levels at different chowks for both the celebrations along with recording videos. We will register cases after the processions are over.”Meanwhile, Pimpri Chinchwad police commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey issued an order for the Aug 23 to Sept 29 period, which includes Ganeshotsav and Eid-e-Milad processions, banning use of laser beams.Police said 40 mandals violated the order in Pimpri Chinchwad — include 17 in Wakad, eight in Pimpri, five each in Nigdi and Sangvi, three in Dapodi and two in Talegaon Dabhade.“We have registered cases against these mandals under section 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita,” a Pimpri Chinchwad police officer said.Additionally, police have registered cases against three Ganesh mandals in Bhosari for using loudspeakers beyond the prescribed decibel limit. “We recorded have the sound using noise level meters at various places in Pimpri Chinchwad and assistant police commissioners of those areas will hold inquiries. A further course of action will be decided thereafter.”
