New Delhi: A QR code-based confidential support system allowing students to seek anonymous help and access verified information forms the centrepiece of a new anti-drug campaign launched by the South-West district unit of Delhi Police to promote substance-free college campuses.Joint commissioner Deepak Purohit said the initiative, titled “Drug-Free Campus”, was rolled out by the district as part of Delhi Police Week and the Centre’s Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.On Tuesday, hundreds of students and teachers gathered at Sri Venkateswara College as police introduced the campaign centred on awareness and accessible support for young people. The programme is designed to combine awareness, prevention and early intervention strategies within educational institutions.The programme aims to embed preventive education into campus life through structured life skill modules, peer leadership activities and a campus ambassador system that encourages students to act as advocates for a drug-free environment.Authorities also introduced the Green Ribbon Initiative, a symbolic campaign intended to promote awareness and collective responsibility among students.“The QR code-based system was developed to let students discreetly access counselling resources, educational material and assistance channels without the fear of stigma. These QR codes will be pasted across campuses. The anonymity feature is intended to encourage early reporting and help seeking behaviour,” Purohit said.A structured annual engagement calendar was also prepared to guide workshops, sensitisation drives and outreach activities across participating colleges.The launch event was attended by minister Ashish Sood and Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu, who addressed students.Police said the initiative will be supported by regular monitoring, intelligence-led preventive measures and legal awareness sessions.As part of the police week, multiple interactive outreach programmes were organised across Delhi.
