Pune: A casual worker (30) riding pillion on a motorcycle was killed after the two-wheeler was hit by a truck at Borkar Vasti in Kunjirwadi on the Pune-Solapur highway around 1pm on Monday.The Loni Kalbhor police have identified the deceased as Santosh Jadhav of Shinde Vasti at Hinjewadi. The bike rider, Dinkar Jadhav, also from Hinjewadi, escaped unhurt.Sub inspector Ratandeep Birajdar on Tuesday said the biker and pillion rider were on the way to their native place in Latur. The truck was heading in the same direction when its driver suddenly moved towards the left and hit the bike.Birajdar said the bike skidded because of the jerk. Its rider escaped unhurt, but the pillion rider died due to multiple injuries, he said. The truck driver stopped after the incident. The truck was impounded for RTO inspection. Notice has been served to the driver directing him to join the investigations, he said, adding that a case relating to causing the victim’s death due to negligence was registered.
