Physically challenged woman kidnapped in sleep and murdered

New Delhi: A 22-year-old physically challenged woman was kidnapped from her terrace when she was sleeping and murdered in southeast Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj early on Sunday. Cops said no arrests were made yet.According to police, a PCR call was received at 1.02am, at Sarita Vihar police station, which was transferred to Kalindi Kunj police station. The caller, a resident of Madanpur Khadar Extension, reported that a physically challenged woman had been kidnapped.Preliminary inquiry revealed that the victim was sleeping on the terrace of her house with her parents when she was abducted.During search, the body of a young woman was found in an abandoned jhuggi in the same lane as the victim’s residence. She was later identified as the kidnapped woman.Police teams, along with crime and forensic units, visited the spot to conduct a detailed inspection. Cops spoke to other residents in the area. Based on their inputs, one suspect was identified, though he was yet to be apprehended.The victim’s body was sent to AIIMS for postmortem. As per preliminary findings by doctors, the probable cause of death is asphyxia due to strangulation. The final autopsy report is awaited.Cops were scanning CCTV footage of the area to identify the routes taken by the suspect to flee the spot after the murder. TNN
