New Delhi: Union health minister JP Nadda on Saturday launched an AI-based navigation mobile app, Disha, for AIIMS to help patients and visitors find their way around the hospital with ease. Based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons and AI routing algorithms, these digital maps allow real-time turn-by-turn navigation, authorities said. From navigating OPD rooms and diagnostic centres to reaching pharmacies and billing counters, the app promises to cut confusion. It provides wheelchair-friendly routes, voice and visual guidance in multiple languages and offline navigation. AIIMS director, Dr. M. Srinivas, said the initiative marks a shift towards “next-generation, patient-centric services,” reducing the burden on helpdesks and staff. Dr Rima Dada, professor in-charge, media cell, added that the app will benefit first-time visitors and the elderly. TNN
