Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team laid a trap and arrested the Deputy Superintendent of the Land Records department of State Revenue Administration along with the land surveyor for accepting a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a developer. This bribe was for issuing a certificate for the measurement of land in the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) that the developer purchased.Dharmaraj Sonke, Deputy Superintendent (Dy SP) of Navi Mumbai ACB, informed that the arrested accused are Dilip Tulshiram Bagule (55), the Deputy Superintendent of Land Records for NAINA, who is a Class-2 officer residing in Badlapur, and Kalimuddin Riyazuddin Shaikh (37), the land surveyor, who is a Class-3 officer residing in Kamothe.Dy SP Sonke said, “The complainant, aged 27 years, works for a developer, who gave him the authority to handle the official work related to the measurement of allocated plot number 27 in NAINA Town Planning Scheme (TPS-1) after the developer purchased the plot. On behalf of the developer, the complainant submitted an application to Bagule for seeking a measurement certificate of the said plot surveyed on December 5 by Shaikh, who contacted the complainant and arranged a meeting with Bagule. During the meeting, Bagule initially allegedly demanded a Rs 2 lakhs bribe for issuing the certificate, and later the demand increased to Rs 9 lakhs. Hence, the developer’s staff lodged a complaint at the Navi Mumbai ACB office against Bagule and Shaikh on December 15.”Sonke further informed that upon verification of the complaint, it was confirmed that Bagule demanded Rs 9 lakhs as a bribe and, after negotiation, settled with a demand of Rs 6 lakhs for which Shaikh allegedly encouraged the complainant to pay the bribe. Subsequently, a trap was laid on December 16 at the parking lot of CBD-Belapur railway station where Shaikh was caught red-handed, in the presence of govt witnesses, while accepting the demanded Rs 6 lakhs bribe in the complainant’s parked car. During the trap, even Bagule was present in the parking lot. Hence, both Shaikh and Bagule were detained, and after registering an FIR against them at CBD-Belapur police station under the relevant sections of The Prevention of Corruption Act, they were arrested. Their mobile phones have been seized for examination of technical evidence.
