Thane: The Anti-Extortion Cell busted a major mephedrone (MD) racket, seizing nearly 1 kg of MD worth Rs 1 crore and arrested six accused during the investigation.Based on a tip-off, the team first detained Sachin Subhash Chavan, from whom 29.06 g of MD was recovered. Technical analysis and inputs from a confidential informant later led to the arrest of R Dagur, who was found with 34 g of MD during a personal search. “The seized items include 999.2 g of MD along with mobile phones and other materials, collectively valued at over Rs 1 crore,” said Shailesh Salvi, senior inspector of the cell. The investigation is being conducted by API Sunil Tarmale of the cell.
